I did AKC obedience with my first Doberman, Kandy, and obtained her CD in 1978 before being sidetracked by being a single mom with a son who participated in every sport known to children. I had several Dobes in the meantime who went to basic obedience classes but did no competing. When I got Hildy in 1997, I hadn't heard of agility and we did obedience and she got her AKC CD. We then attended Dog Scout Camp in Michigan, where we were exposed to agility for the first time. It took us several months to find somewhere to train when we got home but finally stumbled upon Elsie Maylott and Claudia Bates teaching in Leesburg in early 2000. The rest is history.

Hi, my name is Janice and I am an agility addict! Hildy was an awesome dog, not for what we accomplished together (CD, MX, MXJ, EAC, NGC, NJC, PD, CGC, DSA) but for what she taught me. She was well on her way to MACH and was in the Top 20 of Doberman Pinschers in the country for 2005 before being struck down by osteosarcoma. We never competed in USDAA but she would have loved it! My up and coming young dog, Dicey, started competing in October 2005 and is already in Excellent level AKC and has just started competing in USDAA. She has one Grand Prix qualification and a Snooker Q. She is also tracking and showing in the breed ring. We are also working on getting her a companion that will hopefully enjoy agility, too. I go to as many seminars and camps as I can to further my agility knowledge.

In my other life, I am an ICU nurse, stressful indeed, and agility is the perfect fun outlet. I also enjoy reading and watching TV when I have time.

Wheee!
